International Video Contest Anti-Corruption Day 2016

Young people in the South East Asia Region are invited to make a stand against corruption via a short video clip of up to 3 minutes.
You may use mobile devices, video recorders, or any other camera devices to create a digital storytelling narrative, documenting the negative impacts of corruption.
The objectives of the videos should be as follows:
1. Drive awareness about the bad effects of corruption in our society and get young to take a stand against corruption.
2. Show how corruption impacts the daily life of normal people, especially the youth and women.
3. Encourage people to say “NO” to corruption.
4. Make corruption worth fighting against by showing what can each of us do to stand against  corruption, “Break the corruption chain” and uphold ethics and integrity.

Awards:
The best three videos will be awarded:
• An official award certificate ceremony will be hosted during the “Governance & Social Responsibility” Forum to be held in Singapore in July 2016.
• Selected videos will be officially used during the 2016 UN Anti-corruption Day Campaign (the potential audience is 200 million people around the world).
• Selected videos will also be featured on various UNDP/ ASEAN CSR Network media platforms including website, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Youtube and at selected events.

Purpose of the Position:
  • The UNICEF Internship Programme offers qualified and eligible students the unique opportunity to acquire direct practical experience in UNICEF’s work and the United Nations system under the direct supervision of experienced UNICEF staff.
  • A social media intern is required to oversee and produce content for UNICEF Africa social media channels, and to support UNICEF staff in ESA countries on how best to tell their stories on their country specific social media platforms.
  • The Social Media consultant will use current and new social media platforms to support UNICEF ESARO’s advocacy goals, as well as the priority emergencies currently taking place in the region.
Scope of Work
  • The Social Media Intern will be responsible for creating and packaging compelling digital content which engages regional audiences in a dynamic, interactive and meaningful way and sparks conversations around issues related to UNICEF’s mandate.
  • She/he will play a leading role in supporting UNICEF’s country wide presence on a wide range of social media platforms and championing wider digital editorial processes.
  • She/he will regularly liaise with colleagues in country offices on content, style and storytelling. They will also support – and in some cases lead on – the creation and coordination of social media strategies and campaigns, monitoring and analysis, and moderation of platforms.
  • Working under the supervision of the Regional Communication Chief for Eastern & Southern Africa, the Social Media Intern will act as one of UNICEF ESARO’s key representatives in its regional digital outreach.
Specifically,
(1) To regularly update – using shared content from country offices, and new assets – all of UNICEF Africa’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
(2) To proactively seek content across the Region and find ongoing trends and areas of potential interest for internal and external audiences
(3) To work closely with the social media lead in UNICEF West and Central Africa regional office (WCARO) on planning and developing content for UNICEF Africa social media channels.
(4) To give support to country offices on their social media presence and strategies, including championing the UNICEF Digital How To Guide with colleagues in country offices.
(5) To review and update a short overview of UNICEF Africa’s current social media platforms and reach; to include an examination of country office sites and content; and key recommendations
(6) To develop a strategy note for increasing UNICEF Africa social meal channel audiences
(7) To identify key digital opportunities and influencers so that social networking can support advocacy objectives
(8) To serve as a focal point for UNICEF’s Digital Transformation Project led by NYHQ

DIU Chairman attends prestigious ACE summit-USA


As the only representative from Bangladesh, Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, honorable Chairman, Daffodil International University (DIU) & Daffodil Group joined the 3 days premier higher education event ACE2016-98th Annual Meeting of the American Council on Education (ACE), held on 12th -15th March 2016 at Main Conference, Hotel San Francisco Marriott Marquis, San Francisco,California, USA with representation of manyStrategic decision-makers from government, education and business; internationally recognized experts, senior researchers, education leaders, entrepreneurs, business and industrial leaders from around the globe. The event aimed to discuss trends and promising practices with colleagues from across all sectors of higher education. Participants had access to experts and workshops that provide practical resources and tools that aid day-to-day decision making, as well as long-term strategic planning among the members.
During the visit, DIU Chairman met and discussed about probable collaboration and prospect, with Ms. Molly Corbett Broad, President, ACE along with Mr. P. Cipriano Sanchez Garcia, Rector of Anahuac University, Mexico, Mr. Mohammed Sahin, President of MEF University, Istanbul, Turkey and many others.His active participation opened up scope to flourish Daffodil with many country representatives to build a large scale international networking & contacts.
As a member of ACE, DIU will have a networking with around 2000 organizations that collectively promote, protect, and advocate for students, faculty and administrators in higher education. ACE is the most visible and influential higher education association in the nation and we are at the center of federal policy debates, best leadership development programs, policy analysis concerning legislation that affects campuses across the world.

DIU will work with Fort Hays State University,USA


Daffodil International University (DIU) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Fort Hays State University (FHSU), a public, co-educational university located in Hays, Kansas, United States on 18th March, 2016 during the visit of DIU Chairman at FHSU.
Dr. Mirta M. Martin, honorable President, FHSU and Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, DIU signed the MoU on behalf of respective university. Among others, Dr. Joy Hatch, Vice President for Technology, Dr. Yaprak Dalat Ward, Assistant Professor and Interim Associate Provost for Internationalization and Global Partnerships and Mr. Philip Wittkorn, Director of International Operations, FHSU were also present during the signing ceremony.
Earlier, DIU Chairman was cordially welcomed by the FHSU high officials during his visit to this fourth-largest of the six state universities governed by the Kansas Board of Regents, with an enrollment of approximately 11,200 students. DIU chairman handed over the DIU souvenir to Dr. Mirta, honorable President, FHSU.
This MoU aims and form of co-operation on Entrepreneurship and Leadership between two universities. Through the MoU, DIU students will get the opportunity to study in FHSU in near future.

Global Youth Rising Summer Camp 2016 in Romania

GYR is a space where youth already involved in organisations, movements and initiatives within their countries or globally will share and learn together while supported and empowered by experienced peace workers from a number of key organizations in the field of peacebuilding. Around 100 passionate young people who are involved in organizations, movements and initiatives related to peace, social justice, activism or environmental issues will come together to learn, share and collaborate.
This exciting summer camp will include a variety of workshops and training sessions on key topics in the field, as well as seminars, film showings, discussions, exchanges, planning spaces, as well as the chance to hike and explore the surrounding countryside.
Eligibility
Global Youth Rising Summer Camp 2016 is open to youth workers, peacebuilders and activists aged 18 - 30 (although older participants are welcome to apply).
Cost:
The aim is to keep costs as low as possible in the interests of making the camp as accessible as possible. Course contributions are:
OECD participants: 500 EUR
Non-OECD participants: 300 EUR
A 10% discount is also available for anybody who applies and pays the fees before 30th March 2016. Organizations sending 5 or more participants can receive an additional 10% discount.
Costs cover:
• Dinner on the 10th July, all meals from 11th-19th July (breakfast, lunch and dinner), breakfast on the 20th, and refreshments throughout the day;
• All training and workshops, morning and evening activities;
• One excursion from the camp (you will be able to select between hiking or white-water rafting).
• Ten nights of accommodation at the camp (10th-20th July) – a bed in a shared room or tent hire if you wish to camp;
